During Federal mediation between BlueOvalNews and Ford lawyers several weeks ago, Ford disclosed that they intended to file a motion with the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of appeals requesting that their appeal be withdrawn. Ford filed the motion on 30 December 1999. On 05 January 2000, the court granted Ford's request allowing Judge Nancy Edmund's earlier decision to stand.
Ford's decision to drop their appeal is not only a victory for BlueOvalNews - it's a victory for our continued pursuit in the protection of the First Amendment. It is a victory for Free Speech in a new era of technology and communications.
